In March 1998, Saison Group sold IHC to British bottling works Bass, which follows its underlying foundations back to 1777, when William Bass set up the Bass Brewery in Burton-upon-Trent. In 1988, in response to the British government restricting the quantity of bars which brewers could specifically claim, Bass put resources into the extension of its little line of lodgings. In 2000, Bass sold its blending resources (and the rights to the Bass name) to the real Belgian brewer Interbrew for £2.3 billion and changed its name to Six Continents.
In 2003, the autonomous enterprise InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) was made after Six Continents split into two organizations: Mitchells and Butlers took control of the eatery resources and IHG concentrating on lodgings and soda pops. IHG held Britvic, the soda pops division, until December 2005 when it sold its enthusiasm for the organization by a first sale of stock. In April/May 2014 the organization purportedly dismisses a $10 billion takeover offer from an obscure suitor, accepted to be Starwood.
